Hummingbird Moth
Hemaris thysbe 2 inches
aka Clearwing moth
I saw this moth hung on the yet un opened Autumn Joy buds-- made several images, and then started to worry about him-- Usually one hears, rather that views this moth---
About then, he decided to fly off! Hurrah!
It has been sitting on my desktop for about a month---- LOL!

we got a very similar one, the broad bordered bee hawk moth or the bumblebee moth in dutch ![]()
The green treatment delivers an excellent BG. Superb detail and contrast. TG

Wonderful detail and comp Jenn, cracking shot,
Geoff.
Dave and Barbara spoilt my thunder, but that's only to be expected, I did wonder how you got to keep it on your desktop for so long
!
A real belter Jenn, the detail and clarity is immaculate. I've never seen a shot of one before where one has stayed still, their wings are usually whirring around furiously even when they are nectaring
