The Peeler
Apple Butter Day
My re-enactor neighbors were hosting an Apple Butter making day in their 1750's kitchen---Apple butter, a roasted chicken, boiled potatoes, pies and breads----
So here sits the gal who peeled a couple bushels of huge apples!

Wow, this peeler must be a fast one if it's to be done all alone.
No apples here yet as the trees are only just comimg back into bud.
I made a rhubarb pie last week though for Sunday dinner. Then on Tuseday
we moved and seperated all the crowns into a new spot with enriched soil.
Good fun.

Good use of the dof, Jenn, slightly noisy image but beautifully composed. After your first mention of Apple Butter, I have found a supplier in the UK and await delivery. ![]()

A wonderful homely image, one which brings back many fond memories when as kids we would go 'scrumpying' and come home with an arm full of apples and mum would make a delicious apple pie. This would be donned with lashings of clotted cream and devoured in earnest.

Peeled, but the cores left in. I don't know apple butter, must do some Googling.
Much more importantly this is superb, and exemplifies your style of reportage. Sympathetic, unintrusive, informing through delight.

I have an apple peeler he's at work in the kitchen as we speak
I dont know what I would do without him![]()
Sounds delicious, Jenn. My Mum used to make her own apple sauce to accompany roast pork, which was a favourite Sunday dinner at home. I guess the butter is sweeter?
Like the use of dof here, concentrating on the main ingredient, but the oof hands in the bg tell their own part of this story.

How delicious and well taken and lit Jenn! You should enter this in the Pink Lady Apple Food Competition - you can find details on their website and there's money to be won! £5,000 first prize, I think. (A friend is one of the judges and runs the company in the UK.) I think this image is a winner!

lovely focus, and my imagination flies on the waves of the perfume!
Brilliant composition in both the image and the meal
