First, many thanks to John (lifesnapper) for placing his U.A. on yesterday's upload, a gesture that is much appreciated.

Today's shows a detail of an early Model T Ford in a showroom window, Beamish Museum, County Durham. The handsome brass-bound radiator marks it out as pre-1916, when a less distinguished, rounded, enamelled version was substituted.

According to The Veteran Motor Car Pocketbook (1963), the brass radiator "leaked on the slightest provocation and boiled vigorously on no provocation at all".

Lovely. I took some photographs of a model T at a garage in Rutland. Garrath asked to owner what the petrol consumption was like. His reply,

"I think it leaks more than it uses."

The glossy brass catches the eye and the rim of the headlamp pushes the eye back up into the grill again.

Completely worthless, Dan. I'll tell you what, though, as you seem a nice bloke, I'd happily come over and take it away for you...I won't even charge for the petrol !
