Many thanks to those of you who allowed me to use your photos on a recent teaching visit to Uganda, the kids loved them and were so excited at seeing England! The visit was amazing, this is one little girl who was sent home from school as her parents had no money for the fees, she spent the whole day watching through the fence (in between being sent away by the armed guard) another world in more ways than one! I have read your thread and seen this.
I am full of admiration for you and this is a very thought provocking shot.
Doesn't it make you want to help.
I agree that you should do the UK schools rounds. Certainly should be a government sponsored initiative, or at least the lottery instead of that running race thing down south.
Thanks everyone, I am going to try and sell some of my images to send the money back to Uganda so keep your fingers crossed! Thanks Jane
Who said journalism is dead.
Excellent shot heightened even more so with the caption.
The only positive way to help these children is through education, and that, as you say, has to be paid for. Having armed guards around the school raises some sensitive questions.

Thanks everyone for your comments, I have spent today editing photos and have loads to share! Jane
Very poignant image, and a strong statement. Thanks for this.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments, I've now sold this photo twice (just to friends) and the money will all go to Uganda to finish building the school that we have started there.
Jane,
The whole series of shot are brilliant. You have captured some stunning images. I can see why you have sold this particular shot. It's great.
