I'd love to say that this was taken in the canyons in Arizona, but it isn't (I wish!). I created it my bedroom - the background is an orange voile curtain, scrunched up. The 'tree' was found outside, which someone had conveniently stepped on to flatten it (I think it's from a shrub of some kind, possibly elder) and the light shaft was created curtesy of the DigitalPhoto technique (although I did try to make it subtle!).

Exposure for the background was 1.5" @ f8 - the tree was masked out from another similar image and inserted (and boy, was it a sod to mask!) Then turned the image black and white by using the red channel only. I like it, but I'd welcome feedback from others - does it work?

I think this is a great image, from the thumbnail I'd have guessed Arizona.
This is a well thought-out and well-executed piece of artwork. Well done.

surreal, impressive and so inventively done with the simplest of "props".

Thanks for the comment. I think you're right about the crop. I've just had a little look at your portfolio and it's great. I like your 'Last One Standing', I thought it was Arizona, or somewhere similar, from the thumbnail.

Thanks Paul, much appreciated. To be honest, I've done so little in the past few years that it feels like I'm starting over again. I look back on some of the old stuff and wish I had a time machine and could go back and do things differently! I've just had a peek at your collaborative website ... some brilliant stuff in there. Not the norm either, which is nice to see these days. Good gritty stuff Smile

To be absolutely honest which I always am! gets me problems some times, the first thing I thought was nice curtains fantastic shape, wonder what colour they were orange perhaps! or maybe yellow!. Then I saw the tree and thought blowing in the wind but the tree is straight?. Is this a play on the persistence battle of forces apposed to each other ie. the lone tree against the power of the wind!, just goes to show how differently people sum thing up in their mind!, like it all the same lol. regards Leon. Hi Leon. Yeah, you're right - they were orange on layer one, and yellow on layer 2 (double layer curtain) ... you've certainly got a good eye! I don't know about battles of opposed forces ... to be honest (and it gets me into trouble sometimes too) ... I was just pratting around seeing if I could make anything of a pair of curtains and a squashed twig ... Grin

Well you succeeded from my point of view! but then great minds think alike lol. regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin
