A little controversial maybe, so I'll apologise now if this image upsets anyone!

I see what you mean! Actually I'm not sure how the law stands now - I had heard that characters on TV / film had to point the gun slightly away from the direct line of the camera but maybe it's changed .. I've actually had to stop looking at it because it feels so threatening. So from that point of view it's effective
.. and the focussing depersonalises the gun handler very well ..
Certainly a photo that makes you stop in your tracks. Very effective.
Original idea, I like it, very effective, well presented.

And what's wrong with being controversial?
There's too much run of the mill stuff in photo mags and club competitions, we've all seen hundreds of almost identical pix of lake Windermer etc.
Damien Hurst and the other Turner weirdos can get away with controversial rubbish (art?)and make a fortune.

PS I'm not implying that your pic is rubbish.
Thanks everyone for commenting. I wasn't aware of any laws on this sort of thing, but then again I never thought to find out before doing it!
The original slide was very selectively focused on the end of the barrel, and I used a wide aperture, so the background was very defocussed anyway. I just increased it a bit.
Awesome... I love how the image is blurred pushing the barrel of the gun right up into your face yet you can still make out the stance of the "cowboy" in the background. Wonder if this is how it would REALLY look should I ever get caught "tresspassing" on this guy's property.
Love this shot... Guns don't kill people ..
People with guns kill people...
Give em both barrells....!!!
As an ex soldier and a hunter I have seen many idiots with guns! so am very safety conscious! but I do not see your photo as offensive more a fact of life! a statement of fact if you like, it depends on the individual, In the army you are taught to kill with a pencil, so should pencils be banned! no of course not, hand grenades yes and lunatic car drivers! where do you stop!, So I like your statement of fact!, regards Leon. ![]()
