A little controversial maybe, so I'll apologise now if this image upsets anyone!
I see what you mean! Actually I'm not sure how the law stands now - I had heard that characters on TV / film had to point the gun slightly away from the direct line of the camera but maybe it's changed .. I've actually had to stop looking at it because it feels so threatening. So from that point of view it's effective .. and the focussing depersonalises the gun handler very well ..
Certainly a photo that makes you stop in your tracks. Very effective.
Didn't realise there were laws about this kind of stuff. Excellent image.
Great picture, it's almost as if the barrel is coming out of the page at you! Ed.
Original idea, I like it, very effective, well presented.

And what's wrong with being controversial?
There's too much run of the mill stuff in photo mags and club competitions, we've all seen hundreds of almost identical pix of lake Windermer etc.
Damien Hurst and the other Turner weirdos can get away with controversial rubbish (art?)and make a fortune.

PS I'm not implying that your pic is rubbish.
Tanya - controversial yes - but a very strong and effective capture. Your work is most interesting and eyecatching.
Thanks everyone for commenting. I wasn't aware of any laws on this sort of thing, but then again I never thought to find out before doing it!
The original slide was very selectively focused on the end of the barrel, and I used a wide aperture, so the background was very defocussed anyway. I just increased it a bit.
Very tony martin!!....good image, if it was controversial it would not be allowed on this site.......tony
are you feeling lucky comes to mind !
Or get orf my land!! Love this one Tanya, a very strong image
Many thanks guys!
It wasn't me - I swear!
Ace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like this image alot. Never apologise for an image you've taken. This photo is far from offensive, in fact it's beautiful. If someone were to be offended by this, then i would question their sensitivity. Brilliant.
very very good! captivating.
Awesome... I love how the image is blurred pushing the barrel of the gun right up into your face yet you can still make out the stance of the "cowboy" in the background. Wonder if this is how it would REALLY look should I ever get caught "tresspassing" on this guy's property.
Just stumbled on this one.I could care less about the "controversy"Great Shot!No pun intended.I just hope the gun wasn't loaded.I kind of imagine this is what my daughter's first date might fear when he comes "a'callin y'all".Keith
Love this shot... Guns don't kill people ..
People with guns kill people...
Give em both barrells....!!!
As an ex soldier and a hunter I have seen many idiots with guns! so am very safety conscious! but I do not see your photo as offensive more a fact of life! a statement of fact if you like, it depends on the individual, In the army you are taught to kill with a pencil, so should pencils be banned! no of course not, hand grenades yes and lunatic car drivers! where do you stop!, So I like your statement of fact!, regards Leon.
Wow. Awesome. =)
oops.. hands up..
but this is brilliant.. quite a ruthless approach but works..
