Wow that looks like an alpine scene. Where is it?

Thanks Pete, that was quick response! As it says, it was the Peak District, but as to the exact location I think I'll have to 'phone a friend' ... it was a long time ago, but he should remember. I'll let you know when I find out. Another one of mine (Climber) was taken around the same area, so I'd hazard a guess that it's well known to the active types. Anyone out there recognize it?

Okay, I accept that I'm geographically challenged ... it's not the Peak District at all, it's the Lake District ... again, not sure of the exact location so if anyone knows it could they let me know!

Gonna have to go back to keeping records as the memory's failing ... doh!

Looks like a quarry in Borrowdale or Little Langdale.

The rock appears to be slate rather than PeaK District Limestone

Thanks Dave, those places sound familiar. I was based in Braithwaite at the time, and remember a very long walk up a very large, popular mountain range, a stupendous view once at the top of a little town nestled in the valley below ... oh, and a very nice packed lunch to revive me at the top Wink

There is a small quarry not too far from Grange in Borrowdale - just above the campsite. Grange is a small hamlet at the end of Derwent Water, nestling in the valley, and is where a famous playwright or film director lives.

I wondered why I hadn't ever come across it in the peak district!

Great shot. I particulary like the clarity of the reflection and the grey blue colour of the slate.

The reflections and clarity are the main points, while the Colours sing in the rays of light playing on the rock surface, like it, regards Leon.Wink
