You will recognise this tree and rainbow from one of Doug's recent uploads, this is my version, I stepped a little further back and managed to capture the complete rainbow, the darkening sky and the rich colours of the moor added to the mood. Our decision to try and get to the tree before the downpour had paid off, the added bonus was the rainbow which appeared for a short time while we were there.

Hi Louise, I really enjoyed Doug's photo and it just goes to show what can happen when you take a couple of steps in another direction and how you can get a completely different take on the scene. The inclusion of the whole rainbow testifies this. Love the contrast between the sky and heather.

Phil.

Hi Louise, good comparison but fairness allows me to place this one first Smile))

For me it is the light on the tree that really makes.

Hope you are both keeping well.

Hi Louise,

Glad to see you uploading again. This is amazing. You were very lucky to get these conditions...hope you didn't get too wet. I saw a similar rainbow (may have been the same one!) over Doug's old house near Aviemore and took a few shots of it. They didn't turn out as well as I would have hoped. I may post one once I have sorted it.

Cheers,
Thomas.

Great capture Louise, Similar feel to 'Alone'. Speaking of which I would look at the PF of a chap called Skinz and in particular 'The Dead Tree', you may recognise it.

Hello Louise.
Still waiting for Dougs return, from the wrong site of the rainbow.?
Or is he checking the other side too?
In fact, I have seen him today with some fisherman, opposite of the Castle.

Ah yes, if you chase the rainbow, sometimes it disapears before you had time to get it. This is unique in as much as I haven't seen a whole rainbow before.
