The hoverflies were swarming all over the fennel flowerheads in my garden today, so I thought I'd give the macro lens an airing.
Settings:- F/2.8 1/2000sec ISO250 100mm handheld
Many thanks for your continued support - so much appreciated as always

An excellent series Sylvia. Tack sharp and the bg colour is a perfect match for the colouring in the fly. Presentation is spot on as well!!

Three tremendous macros here Sylvia - very well done you!
Three very fine shots Sylvia. The fly makes a lovely contrast with the flower heads and fly detail is excellent.
Wonderful trio, lovely sharp detail,V2 for me.
got to make this into the 30,
like v2 for the colours as all sharp and well composed
3 wonderful captures Sylvia, it proves what fun Macro can be.
Try it on the tripod and then shutter lock, I found it gives the image more steadiness and more challenge. Also mix water and sugar and spray it and they will stay longer feeding for you.
The detail is super here and on fennel, a real bonus
Wow a trio of superb shots - v1 is my favourite - elizabeth
p.s. great advice from MossyOak will have to give it a try !!
You managed to capture some cracking detail in this trio - well done - Ina

Three excellent shots, well done.
Three brilliantly taken macro shots.
Three very fine close ups, V2 for me, lovely work Sylvia.
Three great close ups Sylvia.
Three marvellous macro shots, each one deserves an upload in its own right
Top quality macro work. Was it really taken at f/2.8, though? If so, I'm surprised you got that much depth of field with the lens so close to the subject.

Hi Dave - yes, definitely f/2.8 on all 3 - just checked the metadata - aperture priority.
Very nice series.
I wondered about the aperture as well. I too have this lens but find that it works better with a higher f number, you must have got the angle just right to have the fly so much in focus (and a steady hand)
All three shots are excellent, version 2 for the striking colours in it.
Lovely shot, pleasure to make it 50 clicks, Rod
