The Postman Butterfly (Heliconius melpomene) is one of Heliconiine butterflies found in South America. Several species in the genus have very similar markings and looks and are difficult to distinguish. I saw this one at the RHS Wisley Butterfly Event last February.

Excellent shot especially since, from the stripes on the background, it seems to have been taken through glass. The only downside is that out-of-focus stalk that crosses his legs so I've posted a mod in which I've cloned it out and drawn some legs back in. I also cloned out those little intrusions in the lower-right corner.

BRILLIANT MOD Dave, thank you - I could never have made such a good job of that delicate cloning out of the annoying stalk! It also looks much cleaner without the RH corner intrusions Smile
The horizontal stripes are in fact louvred white blinds covering the glass inside the Wisley Glasshouse - again I would have liked to have got rid of them but it would have taken me forever and then would have looked botched!! {Now there's another challenge for you Smile }

Easy! Really, Sylvia, I'm sure you could have done it yourself. It only takes a couple of minutes. Wink
