A full-frame capture, taken today in the garden. I think this Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) is a first year juvenile female. She is posing conveniently in front of the Japanese Acer shrub (whose leaves are now beginning to blow away in the wind - very short window of opportunity!)

This is another stunner Sylvia and that Acer is certainly the perfect backdrop for these. The GSW is posed so well and top marks for getting it all in and showing slightly ruffled feathers
