This little Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) seemed to be under the impression the nesting season was at hand! Taken in the garden a few days ago, in unseasonably mild weather, against the red Japanese acer background.

Thank you all for your C&Cs on yesterday's upload - always much appreciatedSmile

There seems to be a lot of 'spring-like' activity going on in the bug world, too, Sylvia Wink. A charming image. Carol

It's not the only one to be getting the seasons mixed up, Sylvia: another fine shot, your acer again providing such an excellent contrasting backdrop.
Ronnie.

They will use the moss to line a roost site in an old nest hole for cold nights Sylvia and also gather in numbers to share body heat.
Another wonderful image against that superb Acer Sylvia

A wonderful little bird who seems to have got his seasons in a bit of a muddle Sylvia. Superb shot however and a lovely reminder of warmer times to come.GrinGrin

A terrific capture Sylvia, the detail and colours in the plumage are first class and the acer makes the perfect background. Good to see Richard providing a logical explanation for this behaviour, I found it hard to believe that they could have been fooled into thinking spring had arrived given the cold damp weather we've experienced this past week.
