A full frame (uncropped) capture of a juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) perching on the rusty strut of an old garden roller, against a blurred background of lawn, path and shrubs. I tilted the camera in order to obtain the cross diagonal lines between subject, perch and background. I liked the way the pose illustrates how this bird uses its tail for support, bracing and balance.

Thank you all for your C&Cs on yesterdays upload - your support is always very much appreciated Smile

That does seem an unusually slender 'perch' for this particular bird to have chosen but it has afforded a fine uncluttered shot, and I have to agree with all your own opening remarks up top, Sylvia.
A very fine shot and presentation in every way.
Ronnie.

Superb image Sylvia - that thin strut really gives the woodpecker the opportunity to show its balancing skills.
