A Merlin (Falco columbarius) preparing to take off from it's flowering gorse perch. Taken near Bamburgh, Northumberland in open countryside last Summer, whilst attending a Birds of Prey Workshop. These were working birds, handled by a falconer.

A cracking shot of this majestic raptor poised for take off, such wonderful pin sharp details in the plumage and captured in lovely colourful surroundings. As for buying Next groundsheets from the January sales to act as a background, I won't bother i'd just ask uncle Adie aka Tomcat for some of his cast offs, he's built up quite a collection you know!WinkTongue
