Today a Merlin from my Welshpool workshop. Probably the prettiest raptor in the UK (IMHO) and certainly very photogenic.

Thanks for all the attention in 2012, very much appreciated, especially JuBarney for the UA on the Christmas message

As always all comments. clicks and critiques welcome

David

Judging by the deformed bill this looks like a captive bird which degrades the photo by about 98%, only in my opinion of course but it would be good to have listed it as such.

Read the intro, that might have given you the information you required !! " Today a Merlin from my Welshpool workshop " I've done it for you Smile save too much exercise !! 98% reduction for a captive bird ?? I don't think so..........Find one in the wild, like searching for rocking horse S**T !!

Me too. I have an award waiting for the next photo of a Budgerigar (or Canary) taken in natural surroundings. Pink or white feathers preferred and must have an obvious deformity (feet hidden to disguise the canker), missing feathers excepted. All cage bars must be photoshopped out and no mention of captivity in the tags please.

p.s. the last time I was in Machynlleth I stopped in a layby and lo and behold, above me was a rarer that you know what looking down at me. If only I had my camera, I could have secured at least 3 votes for a real life specimen!

Superbly detailed and composed, David. Love the soft plumage textures and natural colours, with the bird so well isolated by the clean bg tones.
