A full frame capture of one of the more mature Red Deer Stags in full bellow - he was a really big boy!
Settings: F/6.3 1/160sec +0.33 ISO500 AV@500mm tripod Best viewed LARGE if you have time.

I know from experience that portrait when they are at this angle do not work as the antlers and body angle do not allow enough space in the are the stag is looking.
Great full frame action Sylvia and natural saturaion with lots of detail
Might have just given it a little extra boost from increasing contrast Sylvia

Cracking image of this mighty beast Sylvia. A touch of extra contrast may help a bit but I would say keep it to a minimum. Current colour looks so natural and so many are are far too contrasty and almost saturated.

Superb! Congratulations on the HC.

I guess that, ideally, the tips of the antlers would be inside the frame rather than just above the top edge but, with a prime lens on a tripod, there's not a lot you can do about that! Grin (And better, I think, to be missing the tips of the antlers rather than cropped too tight on the bottom.)
