The swan wasn't actually taking off but doing a display run for the benefit of his girlfriend I think. I'd seen him do it twice already so setup my camera and waited for a third run. I also over exposed by a stop as I knew the white plumage could be a problem. Despite that I still had a lot of trouble in Lightroom 4 with the RAW file burning out. Thankfully the 7D managed to track focus as he approached, yet he was still too far away for my 300m zoom and so I've had to crop by about 50%.
