I wanted an etched look to this so applied lots of high-pass sharpening and removed the colour which was pretty subdued anyway. Has a menacing feel now!

hi,
its a nice mono conversion and nice recession through the image. the trees are sculpturely very interesting although i find the left one a little complex in shape and the new growth a little bright near the edge of frame. i like the transision of light across the shot too , it really adds to the depth. i wonder if a crop to leave a vertical format might be stronger, ill do a quick mod to see, im unsure until i see the result

Yes the crop works, thanks. I might tone down the bright twigs instead.
