Well, that’s what I was hoping to take a picture of when this chap/chapess came along and landed on the perch instead. I have never seen a Jay ‘up close’ generally a flash as they fly by, they are a pretty bird, although I thought there would have been more ’blue’ on them. I have only seen the male Kingfisher once since the floods in April/May, I have not seen the female at all, I think they lost their nest under 6ft of water and I fear the female did not survive, how very sad.

What a fantastic shot of this normally very shy bird, the lighting is ideal and the composition is greally great, love the way he/she's just turned his/her head ............ I have 3 coming to my feeders in the garden at the moment but trying to get a shot of them is very difficult, so I just watch and admire.
