Another of the Goldfinch Mother feeding. When i looked closer at some of the other pictures i took, the Mother has a ring on her leg. Anyone know why?

Thanks for looking.
Dave

A gorgeous image! The details are wonderful, such a cute shot.
I can't help you regarding the ring, obviously someone somewhere is doing a study - we often get Great Tits with rings and we're miles from anywhere!! Smile

HI DAVE,
IT COULD BE THAT IT IS BEING MONITORED BY RSPB.

Fantastic picture, especially the way you have caught the food in the mothers mouth and the babies wings aren't blurred. Another fantastic photo.

Nice shot Dave, I know that any birds that were captive bred, had to be rung with a closed ring, which had to be done young, while the foot was still small enough to go through ring ( before about 10 days old I think ) so maybe its an escapee.

Hi Dave, yet another cracking capture from you. Absolutely spot on ! The Little fella looks real excited at the thought of his next feed.

lovely image,,, the RSPB add rings to certain species, taking young from nests, usually around a wek old. some of these are also micro transmitters and add an insight into the birds movement... It's probably not an escapee, as Karen said, bird study, I guess...
