This is last year’s young female and the first time I have seen her this year with my camera. The water level rose to over 3 feet in the winter and I lost my perch. This is a new one I erected and now seems to be stable in the lowering water. I do think though, that I need to do something about the top, it doesn’t look quite natural enough, and it is about time I gave her a name: any suggestions?

Dave.

Great shot ,any perch for a Kingfisher is better than no perch at all.

See what you mean about the perch, just need to rough it up a little perhaps.. That aside Dave this is a gorgeous image, superb detail and colour, beautifully taken and in my opinion your best KF image, am envious - perhaps you may show me show me the location with the chance of getting a glimpse of the Kingy next time I'm down in the West Country? Pretty please Wink

Another great shot Dave, I can see what you are saying about the perch, but your model seems very happy with it just the way it is!
Love the detail in her blue feathers.
Sue
