Hello Mr Turtle!!!

Hello Mr Turtle!!!Considering the problems you were facing this is not a bad result, the composition of the terrapin is spot on . The problems you encountered are not due to your camera skills but rather a dirty glass tank, you knew to increase iso and add a bit of exp comp but I dont see much noise, other than bring a tank cleaning kit, I think you have done a reasonably good job here.

Blackhead Lighthouse

Blackhead LighthouseHi Brian, cant fault the composition here its spot on however the image lacks contrast its a bit wishy washy and it could do with being a little sharper. Channel mixer as suggested would be a start , although sea mist can be a problem too.

Forgotten

ForgottenHi Dave, the subject matter is excellent with the potential for some great images. so well done for spotting this old car. Firstly it looks as though you have chosen a largish aperture probably around f 8 - f 11 and and got an area of reasonably sharp focus at the steering wheel rhs and again at the rhs of the dash., with the rest out of focus which is a pitty. The slight missing top of the steering wheel is a niggle also for me. This is a car that I would love to have come across and give it the works, ie use a tripod , compose the picture in different ways, use a small aperture like f 22 or higher to try and get everything in sharp focus, it is also an excellent candidate for hdr and tonemapping.I could spend hours at this old car so well done for spotting this old girl and if it is possible get back and take some more!!!

Water Taps

Water TapsInteresting abstract type image. Your choice of aperture has certainly provided a point of focus on the 2nd and 3rd taps throwing the rest out of focus. The mono tones are reasonable but need some more shades of black to balance the predominant grays , maybe a curve adjustment to lift contrast a little might help. Try also different angles and apertures in this type of shot. Overall not bad.

Castle Huntly

Castle HuntlyHi Alan. I like the early morning light on the frost. I quite like the composition though some will not like the framing from the branches.Exposure seems well handled but I think it could be a little sharper. Over all its a little flat and could do with a slight sat boost. I have sent a mod with a sat boost and some diffuse glow for a dreamy sort of thing, if you get my drift. Well done

moon

moonHi Amar, I actually like this shot. The moon can be tricky to capture but you have done a reasonable job here. I also like the inclusion of the palm tree leaves . Overall the composition is good but I would have liked to have seen some more detail in the leaves themselves. Select the dodge tool set to mid tones at about 6% and a soft brush and gently sweep over the palm leaves to bringout some more detail, careful not to over do it. Nice one

Hayley

HayleyHi Ian, I like the close crop of Haley the skin tones dont look too bad and you have captured nice colouring in her eyes. The flower unfortunatley has been blown out slightly. Try selecting the flower only and having a play with curves to see if some detail can be brought back. Haley has really lovely eyes you might try selecting them individually and sharpen using unsharp mask. All in all nice portrait
