Processing-wise, I put the horses and foreground onto a seperate layer, brightened then dodged and burned this layer, added a gradient behind the foreground layer to enhance the sun and misty conditions that's about it basically.
The hardest bit is getting the selection of horses and foreground right so that it stands out but also blends in with the background and doesn't look too unnatural.
