Spotted while waiting in a carpark (in the car; not lurking in the shadows) behind some shops. I’m guessing a reeeally fat pigeon sat on the lowest one?
Major thanks to Ed (glostopcat) for his Stage Pass on yesterday’s shiny fly
Ooo…and I think I’ve nailed the ID! Condylostylus longicornis. Er…I think I’ll just use the common name: long-legged fly
love your thoughts of that really fat pigeon....

Amazing what we find when we are lurking. Perfect for Shadow Saturday
Very productive lurking, Andrew!
Don't lurk to long Andrew. It could be misconstrued., especially in a car park. Love the flat pigeon. Peter/
Love the fat pigeon idea - they do have extraordinary appetites, so you could have a point!
That's a shadow that I can really appreciate, Andrew.
It doesn't want to be where the rest of the pipe is, so it drops down one level.
We have no control over shadows that decide to become loose canons!
An interesting close-up with nice contrast and shadows.
Looks like some sort of weird read out. Top shadows.
A well spotted shadow
Very austere treatment that suits the subject(s) perfectly. Shadows to envy
Glad to see that you have plenty of shadow saturday material in the pipeline Andrew
Excellent addition to Saturday shadows Andrew.
Lucky you to have shadows - all doom and gloom over here. Roll on summer.
How clever and photographically right on of you to find three pipes to comply with 'The Rules' but if you add the three shadows that make six so does that break them? Whatever, it makes for a nice, crisp mono shot.
We are on the same theme today Andrew, though my shots are historic due to the singular lack of sunshine here. Love the idea of an extremely fat pigeon.
Not a fat pigeon Andrew,
but a drunken Scotsman who thought he was
playing the bagpipes for Burns Night !!
I am worried about you, Andrew, lurking in cars, parked in carparks, with your camera in your hand ...
I can imagine local plod turning up "What are you doing here, lad"?
"Just going to take some photos of those shadows", Officer.
Great shadows, Andrew, guess you're lucky, you are able to find shadows every day Carol
great comp andrew wonderful textures and shadows a cracker nice one
well spotted shadow
I do like the idea of the fat pigeon on the lower one here Andrew... A drop of sun wouldn't go amiss here! You always make your pics look so artistic in the way you present them!
Great shadows Andrew. Cathy
The shadows look almost like a city-skyscraper-silhouette.
It must be posh where you live Andrew............... Firstly because you have pigeons that are fat....and secondly because they must have two feet if they can sit on a pipe, pigeons where I live are a bit scrawny( would be lucky to be weighty enough to bend a pipe) and usually have one and a half feet(if they are fortunate), due to them being rough necks................what a sad tale
