Inspired by Fazzer I went to Boscombe and tried to take some photos using the new filters I just bought.

Not what I had in mind but the effect is interesting, I used a lee big stopper, a lee 4 stop nd and a 0.6 nd grad. obviously underexposed but the colour is amazing.

I'm going to try to get out more now and try to develop this technique, if anyone can point me in the direction of a tutorial on filters I would be grateful?

Some interesting stuff on filter use here:

Good luck playing around! Filters can still give some great effects that photoshop can't, and you get to do it "in camera" rather than buggering about on the computer when you get home.

I like it, be careful there I just damaged one of my lenses in the sand! I'm no expert but am willing to meet up with you there one day to grab some shots (when I have my lens repaired that is)

Hi Tom it's nice to know I inspire someone to do anything Smile , I really like the shot and the colours . I like how the sun has caught the top rail running down the pier. The sun would be too strong at that time of the day without a load of cloud cover to shoot straight into it .However, just a suggestion, i think it would have been better to shoot more into the pier to concentrate on the sunlight hitting the pier with the clouds drifting over
Regards
