With the heart of a Lion, Queenie had survived the coldest December since records began 100 years ago. Night time’s temperature was dropping on occasion to -9C and daytime too -5.5C, Kingfishers will survive ok with a daily temperature of -2C, but this was alarming, I decided to catch some bullheads and place them in a bowl near the perch, not only did Queenie partake but several other kingfishers came in, including one I called Supersonic. He landed on top of my hide dived straight in grabbed a fish and was gone, with Queenie in pursuit. I can only think supplementing their food helped.
