I am an ex-South African that has settled in the Netherlands with my family. We have been here for almost 9 years. I have always had a love of photography, spurred on by the fact that my father was a freelance photographer back in the 60's. He developed his own black and white photos at home, and later encouraged my efforts and bought me equipment. I was often to be found brandishing a camera, a collectors piece, in fact. It was a 45 year old Pentax, but much to my distress it finally gave up the ghost and I can't find anyone to repair it. When my Dad passed on in 2005, I inherited his beloved Ricoh KR-5. I started using a small digital camera as well, a Panasonic Lumix which gave me an insight into the benefits of digital photography. I still have plenty to learn and I realize that my camera is not quite geared up to achieve the quality that I admire in other peoples photos.
Ah well, all good things come to those who wait!
And yes, it finally did, in the form of a Canon Eos 400D for my birthday. Thanks to my hubby.
