The Kyles of Bute (Scottish Gaelic: Na Caoil Bhòdach) is a narrow sea channel which separates the northern end of the Isle of Bute from the Cowal peninsula, part of the Scottish mainland. After our crossing on the ferry from Bute, we made our way along the east bank of Loch Riddon, and stopped at this viewpoint on the western side, the view here looking down the Loch. At the end of the Loch can be seen the Burnt Islands, individually known by their Gaelic names, they are Eilean Mòr (Large Island), Eilean Fraoich (Heather Island) and Eilean Buidhe (Yellow Island). Beyond the Islands is Bute, and the headland jutting out is where the ferry crosses; you may just be able to make out the ferry leaving Bute in the closer view of V2.

Looks nicely windswept, Trev. The foreground of V1 really anchors you to dry land, but I do appreciate the deeper view of V2 as well.

Like them both Trev, processing again too your excellent standard, if I had to pick it would be V1 for the foreground included.

Regards

Trev.

I know this spot quite well as my brother used to have a static caravan just north of her at Glendaruel: fine seascape shot of the Kyles despite somewhat indifferent weather.

It is indeed a braw bit of water, Trev. Marvellous depth to both images but v1 gets the nod.

I think v1 is my favorite of these two. Such wide expanses and so seemingly barren too.
