In fact, I think it was the only place open in Rothesay on Christmas Eve. Taken just a few minutes after my previous upload, the Isle of Bute Discovery Centre is located in the Bute-iful (couldn't resist it!) Winter Garden, a Grade-A listed building which was erected in 1924 under the direction of Alexander Stephen, Rothesay's Burgh Engineer. A circular cast iron and glass structure which was prefabricated at the noted Saracen Foundry in Glasgow, the building features a shallow dome 25metre (82 feet) in diameter, two square corner towers with pagoda-shaped roofs and Art Nouveau decorations on the iron-work. After years of decline, it closed in 1976 and was threatened with demolition. Following a complete restoration, the building reopened in 2001.
Thought the subject - and the dismal weather - suited the mono treatment, but included the original colour image in V2.
I'd like to wish you all, including staff at EPZ, a very Happy New Year ![]()

All the best for 2012

The mono version has a vintage feel about it.

There's bleak; and then there's Celtic bleak. Nothing in half measures.
Best wishes to you for a much cosier New Year.

Apart from the modern signage this image might indeed stem from the mid-1920s: your processing and toning are first-rate. In a sense, V2 brings us back to 2011 with a bump!
Wishing you a wonderful New Year full of warmth and happiness.
Regards
Bill
My vote goes to the mono version Trev. I have a penchant for b&w and this is a well presented example of how it can be done. An interesting subject, I think this looks like a candidate for the title 'bleak Bute'.

Both work well - best wishes for 2012 Trev and thanks for all your encouragement this year - best wishes
Helen
I love the shapes of the building and I love the colours of it in your v2 very much, but as you say the day is a bit dull to show it off, so for me the mono works best, it is almost like a delicate sketch, and would look good framed up on the wall.
Happy new year to you Trev, and here is to a year of great togging in 2012
