As well as the Danelaw Dark Age Village at the Yorkshire Museum of Farming, there is this Roman Fort. As with the Danelaw Village, its main purpose is for children's education. Equipped with their uniform, helmet, spear and shield, the young recruits are put through their paces learning how a fort is built and laid out before going on to learn the skills of weapons training (using dummy weapons!), guard duty, craft work, and parade ground drill. I'd loved to have had a go on that large catapult in V1! Smile

That catapult makes such an interesting f/g structure in V 1, Trev: another excellent set of images, so well processed and presented.

Sorry Trevor have missed a few of your Roman series, looks an interesting place to visit, very educational for the Children. My Grandfather was a Basket Maker, he made baskets like in V3.

I like the way you have made a feature of the catapult, very nicely composed Trev, and such an unusual subject.
