Hope you all had a good Christmas Smile Enjoyed my break in Scotland, though the weather was grey and misty/wet/raining for the whole of the stay, and didn't come back with as many images as I'd hoped Sad Still, the hotel, food and entertainment were all excellent Smile
Taken on Christmas Eve morning when I braved the wind and rain to walk down into the town centre of Rothesay, this was the 'Argyle', one of the two Caledonian MacBrayne ferries which sail between Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, and Wemyss Bay on the mainland.

Techie stuff – see Exif
Single Raw image processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Photomatix Pro and Elements 6.

Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

Sorry you had bad weather, Trev, but glad you enjoyed your break anyway. If it's any consolation, you're not missing anything by having gone home. The weather's still totally awful up here so I can't see me managing to get any photos either and I was really hoping to get some new ones while off work over Christmas and New Year Sad

These ferries are a lifeline to the islanders Trev.
And it does not surprise me to hear about it being wet, misty and rainy !!
Good shot.

It's typical, isn't it: warmest winter in living memory (or warmest winter since 2010, I'm not quite sure which) yet the weather conspires against the photographer's best interests Sad
Nevertheless the overcast sky has given you some good saturated colour in the funnels and rear lights of the ferry and the yellow buoy; the ferry and the buoy make a nice triangle with the bobbing waterbird in the foreground. Altogether a pleasing composition.
Regards
Bill

Wonderful. I bet that blew the cobwebs away. I like the bright colours of the boat against the grey sky and sea.

A really good shot Trevor, like the reflections and the wake. Sorry your weather was a bit grotty, remember Venice. Expect the break did you good and a change of scenery is always nice. Looking forward to seeing more pictures. Happy New Year.

Sorry the weather did not favour your visit, Trev.....just continued what we have been having for weeks, and today again blowing a gale with winds up to 80 mph.
But still a fine shot of the ferry as it leaves Rothesay.
Ronnie.

I like that hint of glowing reflection in the water below the lights. It balances the single orange buoy.
Pity about the weather but the photographer can always find a picture.

I'd crop it differently Trev but apart from that, it is lovely.

Sounds similar to the weather we got earlier in the year, Trev, but it's always great to be there and the Ferry looks great.

Moira

Moira has said about the same thing as I wanted to say.

I'll add this too, that I often find moody days like this give amazing atmosphere to an image.

The very best for 2012 to you and yours Trev.

I like this shot Trevor.
I did wonder about your photographic opportunities in Scotland having viewed the weather forecast.
Anyway I’m glad you had a good time.

This is a great shot Trevor, a bright boat on a grey day and waters, ( not sure if this is the sea or a loch).
Bad weather or not you have captured this with excellence………..

Jocelia…..
