Been a chilly week and the Cairngorms have their dandruff back. Still some heat in the sun but the colour is falling off the trees fast now!

A beautiful scene Al , has the area just before the mountains start undergone deforestation ?

Lovely warm golden colours in the sunlit foreground contrasting beautifully with the coolness of the mountains. The rocks give a solidity to the foreground as well.

Probably did 100yrs ago or so but been sheep grazing since and the woods in the distance are the regenerating remnants of Caledonian forest on the RSPB Abernethy reserve.

The colours of Scotland in winter. The layers of grasses, Spruce and Fir trees leads the eye across the plain to the mountains with a dusting.

A true winter scene with it's winter colouring, and early snow on the tops: from the forecast, there's more snow on the way over the high ground this weekend.

Brrr! Actually it's really icy outside this morning and I hear folks are planning to try the ski slopes so I could be busy at work today! There was certainly even more snow on the hills yesterday.

It's breathtaking Al !! in every sense of the word. Fantastic colour throughout, love how the gorgeous colour of grasses contrast nicely with early snow/ frost leading you through to those magnificent snow covered mountains, wish i was there!!. Just needs straightening up a little, picked up the wrong flask eh Al. The colour alone deserves an award.

This is everything a landscape is supposed to be: strong foreground detail and color, and sharp, beautiful background imagery. GREAT photo.
