Anyone that knows me and my daughter Jazz will understand why this image means so much to me. My daughter Jazz is the bravest person I know. Her wings represent her mobility, she has beautiful wings, but unfortunately she can't fly, so she feels tethered, bound by the distance she can move.
Makes me sad even looking at this image, such bleak and desperate emotion. As you know my images come from my heart and the week hasn't been a good one, maybe I make my best images when I am filled with sorrow.
The creation. Jazz was sat in the garden, I explained to her what I wanted, I had to be fast because she couldn't hold the pose. The background was a shot from near Appleby, the chained table from Alton Towers, as was the rope. The wings, which I think people find most fascinating are made from two weathered feathers. I'm getting better at making wings, but they are so time consuming. Altogether it took about 20 hours, but about 5 for the wings.

KT, a fantastic image. Conveys a lot about the real life situations. It is said that man can move mountains but he can,t because he is everywhere in chains ... self imposed limitations. God has given huge potential and power to the human beings. But he don't or cant use his full potentials.
A newly born elephant is tied with a very thin chain. He is programmed in that way. When he grows young he don,t break the chain in spite of having immense power due to his past programming. Same with human beings.
Rightly depicted in your picture ...... despite the wings she can,t fly as she is tethered. Regards KT. Deep
A very emotive image, well done! I am just off to check out your portfolio.
Regards,
Pete

this is a beautiful
and strange image,
and when i read about the making of it
i understand it better,
Jazz is beautiful, and brave,
and i agree that the best images are made when we feel emotion,
especially sadness,
it seems to bring out something in the artist.
so well done,
hapy to give you my award
I bet she loves it as well
paree

A strong image and well presented form to tell a story that not many will understand. You have shown strength and determination in this image and I am sure your daughter will have inherited that same determination from you and will in the future express herself in a way that will lead her to her own form of happiness. Good luck to you both ![]()
Quote: KT, it was great to see this unfold on FB and the final result is a very powerful image. You have patience to match your skill!

Phil's quote is very true. This is such a strong, evocative & atmospheric image - just superb, well worth the Award. Many blessings to you and your daughter. Kerry
