The sunrise colour was at its most glorious here, briefly adding a warm glow to the church and frost covered grass and reeds.

That was quick Phil, not that I am complaining. Huge thanks for your GEA.
Thank you Nathan and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you.
One for Lpoty 2013! Superb light but what makes it for me is the sweep of the water and reeds to the church and then the line of those clouds taking you out of the shot to the top rh corner. Superb image, Derek.
Alun
Thank you so much for your UA's Mark and Alun. Many thanks.
Derek
So very marketable, Derek. You've hit paydirt with this series. Alun sums up the dynamism of this image so well. Excellent.
Dave
Another excellent image, Derek. I'm sure you have a pano shot in there as well.![]()
I'm enjoying this series so much, it captures the strangeness and quiet of the place. One of our favourite holiday cottages is just five minutes walk along the road from here, we have walked across those wet fields so often. In June AnnChown and I spent a merry time shepherding sheep to the front of the church for some other members to photograph. Good memories.
Moira
Thank you everyone and particular thanks to Andy for the UA.

Its most gratefully received Dougie. Many thanks
Thank you for your kind words and award Sarah. Always means a lot and much appreciated.
Thank you for your UA Yogendra. I really appreciate it.
Great image Derek, one of the strongest in the series for it's combination of warm light, frosty FG, great expanse of sky exaggerating the flat ground and imparting more of a feel of isolation to the church. I also really like the way all the land and sky elements vector into the church, highlighting it even more. DPOTY indeed! ![]()
Have a great Christmas and look forward to seeing more of your work in 2013!
Thank you for your UA Alan. Glad you like the image.
Thanks for sharing this one - wonderful to see much more of that magnificent sky ![]()

A fantastic series of shots from this location Derek, every one of them is a gem, I guess the difficult part must have been deciding which ones to leave out!
A bit late but I know, but I really like this one and think it deserves another UA.
