I was at Skye during the weekend and as driving back took the time to try and capture this fantastic castle, Eilean Donan.

I wish it was a better day as it was still raining but here is an image I took untill I can get back up someday when its not pouring !

Advice welcome..

Like this good mood and composition,

Nigel

Great shot with the mist - shows you don't need good weather to get the best shots.

I particularly like the composition the in this. Also like the reflection and low lying clouds on the hills. I was there a few weeks ago, but didn't walk this far to the right. I will next time.

Good to see a different view of this.
An effective composition. The dull light makes the FG colours stand out, you were right to make so much of the FG element here. The castle is beautifully placed, particularly with the low lying line of cloud coming in from the right and pointing straight at it. The sky is perhaps a little bright, did you use a grad? Keep the POV in mind for your next visit, if this is what you got in poor light it can only get better.

The bands of mist look good in spite of the rain.

Mist and sky rolling into each other.

Grey and damp and forbidding ... and the wife wants to go there on holiday.

No ruddy chance.

Evocative.

Dave.

Hi Hi,

Thanks for your comments people. Melanie, I didnt use a Grad, I actualy bracketed the shots and tried to use HDR in CS2 to see if I could retain the highlights and lowlights. I take on what you say about the sky. I actualy lightened the shot up a bit as it was quite dark on my main monitor. Im stil working on HDR so you will need to bear with me till I get on top of it.

DaveU bro,

Grey and damp but not forbidden... The pubs allways warm and dry Smile

Nigel,

try and time it at low tide but watch, its slippy as hell down there.. I wanted to get right up to the water but near went on my rear and set up where I did this shot. Also I was under time pressure so had to hurry Smile

Thorn, its not biased Smile its just honest about a country where even the wet days can be amazing.

Thanks again peeps...

Only realised how good a photo this was when I viewed large, this is an outstanding scene you've captured Thomas, you've dealt with the low light so well and got the mood perfect with good foreground and magic subject, well done, Adrian

Very nice picture, Tomas.
