Did try to lighten it a bit but not sure if it's still a bit dark, what do you think?

I think it is great..the bright blue sky makes the black look ultra dark but a brilliant shot.
I just wonder Una, this is definitely not a horse! Great shot,
with super detail. And no, I don't think it's too dark. Large a must.
Una. Put this against a white background and see what it looks like. Mike
Looks fine to me Una, well captured and like the angle.
beautifully caught and composed una.. love the perspective
Lovely shot,nicely framed.
Fantastic shot as it is but I am leaning towards the white background. Great detail.
May be a little dark on the nostrils, but still an excellent shot.
Looks very realistic to me, and it's a great picture, full of detail. [I think you would have had to use HDR to get detail in the black nostrils. Not easy with a living, moving animal]
He's a lovely stripey boy. I think the slight darkness works effectively against the light sky . Gives it a hint of silhouette.
I like your mod with the white bg.
Have done another for you.
It's a fine shot - the mane stands up beautifully silhouetted against the blue. Not too dark on this monitor.
Una- you are no doubt aware of my fondness of lines in my pics Well -my Zebra pics must run to over 100.I would be proud as Punch had I taken this.
Very nice portrait. Some bits are a bit black on my monitor, but with Pamelajean's modification it's really good.
Many thanks for your comments and clicks. I love to get the mods, it gives me ideas were I am going wrong.
All the best
Looks good to me/love the contrast in colours.
Great looking image of a beautiful animal!
He must be ready for the hay as he has his Jim-Jams on!
No alteration required .
A lovely capture Una, superb detail.
Looks fine on my monitor, love the way you've taken it, Adrian
I agree with Adrian,looks fine to me too.Excellent work.Take care.Ann
Lovely sharp portrait, well done.
Looks great to me - delighted to be #30
great portrait - nicely framed and presented.
simple but nice.
will do a mod for you
Nice three quarter profile. Kind regards John
Had a look at the mods - well, I think the posted one looks more natural, doesn't show those edges which came out through sharpening. Keep it as it is - my oppinion.
Have a peep at the comments
For what it's worth, I think you have got it spot on.
Fantastic image, great colours and detail.
I think the contrasty colours work well together! Nice and bold!
A great angle onthis Una!
lovely shot una,well done
Great framing and sure this was the winner in Racing stripes.
Stunning Zebra portrait
All's fine, Una
Thank you for your comments.
This is a great shot, I love zebra's.
It's a really good image Una - but I couldn't resist having a little go at showing up more in the darker areas!
An absolutely great shot
How about black and white on blue! LOL! Great shot and the quality is wonderful!
Great looking shot,like it.
Fabulous - love the detail.
wow.nice composition with just sky as background. Makes stripes stand out even more.
A super portrait of this zebra, like this one a lot

Great capture Una,I had to have a look at him when I saw him in the middle of the thumbnails, well it made me smile.
All the thoroughbreds and then this guy,,( yes I know he thoroughbred, just with out the finance l backing) !!!!!!
Its probably monitor I am on at the moment but his snout is a little dark.
Still its a lovely shot nice one.
Lovely detailed Zebra portrait. Interesting to see different versions, I like Pamelajean's version as she has defined the nose area more but the white background on your modified version looks good. I think a re-work in B&W would really suit this animal.
Superb shot of a zebra.
