Brilliantly detailed Val, I've only ever heard one of these, in the distance, never been lucky enough to see one...so colourful aren't they?

We are lucky enough to live next to a woodland so we get a lot of woodpeckers coming to the feeder. I keep that particular window clean on purpose but this camera focuses well through glass, the result always surprises me. Thanks for your comment Leo.

Thanks Patti and Barbara. We get all manner of woodland birds and it's the feeding station which attracts them. I have to keep very still with woodpeckers though, the slightest movement and away they go!

Thanks Steve and Ann. I take them through a window with the curtains closed leaving just enough gap to poke the lens through. That way they can't see me else they would fly away immediately.
