I took this shot of my little boy yesterday. Was trying to get the best angle to emphasise his huge cheeks!

Let me know whether you prefer the colour or mono version and what you think of the square crop.

Mono for me. This is a beautiful portrait of a very sweet child. The depth of field works really well and the crop is spot on.
Too cute and not helping my broodyness!

I bet youre proud of this one, - practice does make perfect.

This is your best by a long way, - great focus on the near eye, good choice of aperture to create a shallow dof.

The square crop works well, though I have cropped it a tad closer in a mod, - just to get the eye on a third. On the original, if you cropped just a little wider you would achieve the same thing, and it might look better.

The monotone version is not monotone, - theres quite a bit of colour there, - so its desaturated, - was that waht you were aiming for?

Loaded a monotone mod also for comparison.

Both shots are lovely, - its really personal taste, - and for me, monotone has the edge.

Regards

W

Thanks very much for all of your comments and votes...I'm delighted with the response this shot has got so far. Thanks also for your mod and comments Willie....I did just desaturate the image as I tried it in mono but prefered it this way.

I tend to find that child shots dont usually do that well on here.
I think this is an exceptional image, glad to be number 30, it deserves some more recognition.
