This is a shot of my friends little girl....I took tons of her running around the garden and this was one of the very few I got of her close up without her pulling a face!

I haven't done much in PS, just tweaked levels and curves and blurred the background out a bit more. I haven't changed the colours in the background at all and I'm pleased with the way they compliment her eyes and lips.

Please let me know what you think.

This is about as good as it gets. You should be very pleased with this shot. You could probably tweak it in various ways in PS, but I quite like the very natural feel to it as is.

It's a lovely shot, and I agree with you about the background complementing the colour of her eyes. I don't really know how to improve it apart from sharpening the eyes to make them stand out more.

Hi Vicki,

What a lovely capture (in the literal sense of the word- little girls take some pinning down to get that nice and natural feel). The light and the crop work well in this shot, but I agree with Geraint about the need to sharpen the eyes. Also, and this is just a personal preference the colours are IMHO a little too much - especially the lip colour - it tends to compete with the eyes as a focal point here.

I've uploaded a mono conversion using three selective B&W layers in PS CS3. Send me a PM is you want more info. I've also sharpened the eyes using the high pass technique you can download from epz.

Hope you like it, and feel free to ignore this critique!

Warm regards,

Adam

A nice shot., nicely framed and composed.

As stated above, just needs slight sharpening in the eyes.
Loaded a mod with this done, and eyes lightened a small amount.

Regards

Willie

Thanks very much for the comments and critique, all very useful indeed and I'm really pleased that you all like the shot.
Adam - I'll be contacting you to find out more about the mono conversion and high pass technique....I'm really interested to find out how to do these.

Thanks, Vicki
