Above the ice, everything is quiet, cold, and still. Below it, is a different story.

this is my own personal favourite so its great other people like it too, i tried to get below the water to reflect the lovely blue and slighlty orange sky. i am really pleased with the result, but if anyone has any criticism on how it could be improved, it is welcome.
thanks, dan
This is so well done ..! Great sense of teeming life and energy underneath that chilly landscape ..
I love the echo of colours of the blue and orange of the sky and the fish and for me there's the the strangest sense of a touch of warmth even though fish are cold-blooded! Just the effect of the colour I guess.
Not sure about the trees - just my opinion but I think I'd prefer to see them more in focus.
hi suzi, its funny you say that, cos at 1st i had the trees more in focus, but blurred them more in photoshop so that the focus was more on the fish. see the other version here, see which you prefer.
and yeh, i thought the fish brought a sense of warmth to the photo too, even tho in reality its probably even colder below the ice than it is above! the point was life being warm in contrast to the cold stillness of the ice.
Hi again
- well I looked at both and I like the other one for the fact that the trees and the ice floes look sharper, and it feels colder on top .. However!! I don't get the same feeling of the slight warmth on the other one, whereas the fuzzing of the trees and the ice floes on this one makes it feel warmer and I don't get the same freezing temperature. So I'm torn! Two different interpretations ... but I must admit the sense of warmth / energy beneath the surface does appeal ..
