Strolling around Kos Town on a hot sunny morning we turned a corner to be faced with this wonderful gang of loud, happy, shouting, gesturing children at one of the local schools.

Eventually we saw a marble on the floor on the other side of their school fence and figured out that they were asking us to let them have their marble back.

The problem was.............which child to give it to!

In the chaos of the moment I took a quick shot, and hoped I would capture the fun of the moment.

Once they had retrieved their marble, they quietened down, we said goodbye in our best Greek accent and proceeded on our way around the next corner.

A moment later all we heard was a cacophony of noise from the school yard yet again............and we realised another tourist was passing by and we had been a part of their game.

We laughed at that a lot..........and then afterwards, after viewing the shot on my camera a few times I laughed again when I saw something else, and realised what my title for this shot was going to be!!!

I'd be grateful for any opinions please. Because of the "naughty boy" I was unsure if I should get to work with the cloning tool. What do you think?

A great moment well captured, but it looks a bit..unreal (?) like it's been HDR'd or shadow/highlighted? It all looks about the same tone, but the light would suggest darker shadows and brighter highlights, plus there is uneven processing, evident in the empty squares.

I wouldn't worry too much about the hand gesture, it might rob the picture of it's spontanaity.

A great capture of a spontaneous moment in time. I wouldn't worry about 'the finger'. With all this going on most people won't even notice it. Smile

Leave it, - its the way it was!

I agree with Nick that it look HDRish, - somewhat like a painting or mural, - so Ive loaded a mod with a few tweaks to see if I could change that effect. Dont know if it works.

Regards

Hi Nick,

I'm glad you feel I captured the moment well. It was one of those moments that will never be repeated.

I processed the image in Topaz Adjust and think I have been a bit too heavy handed with the "details" slider - this is what has given the HDR type look to the shot. I think for the final image I'll try again with Topaz but just apply a slight photo pop.

Thanks for your honest opinion and for taking the time to help.

Cheers

Elaine

Hi Gerry,

Thanks for your advice re: the "hand signal". I think it's quite humorous, but wasn't sure if some other people might be offended by it......you never know how others may see things.

I'm going to leave it in.

Cheers

Hi Willie,

Yes your mod with the HDR effect reduced a bit does look better, thanks.

I'll start again with this image and process it differently.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

A fine image but a bit spoilt by the strange tonal range. Not sure why you found the need to do more than the straighthistogram, contrasr and sharpen with a shot like this could be rather good but don't play for the sake of it.
