Pretty darned clever and brilliant image - expect nothing less from yourself!

An interesting shot. I'm trying to figure it out. Keeps me looking so that must mean it's good.

perhaps the best image in many days.. and in many ways.. quite symbolic of childhood when we used to play with tyres.. and if not, the tyre will soon find some children on the beach to pick it up and play with it.. the presence of sun gives a feeling that a moment is being captured, even though the sight is perfectly still.. so many different elements and so brilliantly composed that it does look like a unique event that would never happen again, even though it is something we may see on daily basis.. still but very alive, full of drama and happening..
one of the very best..

Like Kate, I too thought of a tyre. Memories of childhood playing on summer days come to mind. Wonderful photography Alan.

GREAT shot Alan. One that makes me keep looking...so simple, yet not. I love the slight hint of color in the sun reflection.

Superb composition, excellent b&w and a tasty mix of chocolaty textures.
I never tyre of chocolate.

Brilliantly seen and taken Alan; such an excellent composition!
Thanks for the framing suggestion; you're right, black brings it out better.

Quote: excellent b&w

I know it really doesn't look like it, but it's actually a colour shot.

I'd class this as a fine art image - and it's beautifully classic and clean.

The hints of rainbow colour are amazing - I was wondering if this was a mono conversion, in which case how the hell you had achieved it.
I'm seeing predatory ripples advancing on the tyre.

Only you could make a beautiful composition out of an old tire. Love the almost mono effect here, with that haunting little rainbow included. A stunning contre jour image.

Very accomplished image, Alan with excellent composition. It really does appear to be B&W other than the areas of light refraction primarily on the left hand side, don't know how you acheived this, but it is really good.

The oily refractive colour enhances the polluted inferences.

A very nice and interesting shot.
It took me a second or two to realise what I was looking at.
Did you apply that Plastic effect on the water ?
Very nice,

No effects applied. It's colour, and the only processing done was a contrast adjustment in Levels and a crop, otherwise it's straight out of the camera.
Thanks for your interest, Aidan.
