Scree slopes are awesome from a distance (awesome in the sense of majestic, you understand) but they can be pretty frightening when you're half-way up (or down) with no obvious way out and the vertigo increasing by the minute.
Splendour is a better word I think.
Sunlight and shadow; terrific composition.

This is a really good evocation of how hard life is farming in the Lakes. It needs just a little bit of work. I would clone out the yellow crane as it draws the eye. I might also take out the tractor cab.

Classic lakes. The shade at the top keeps you from flying out the top of this steep scree slope.

Consummate image of this imposing landscape, the farmhouse giving a great sense of scale, added to by the slopes in shadow at the top. Composition and crop excellent.
