Thank you to everyone who voted or commented on "still life," and most especially to Sandy, Richard, Mark, and Carmen, who thought that image worthy of their Awards... much appreciated.
Works well with the muted colours Alan.
And with a bit of rust too !!
Excellent Alan, Northern lights in the sky and on the land, really like this a lot
This gives a serene feeling, and would look great on an office wall, or in a hospital where the patients can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere it projects.
You never disappoint with making the ordinary - extraordinary.
Beautiful colour and I agree with Joline about this on a wall for enjoyment to many people.
All your other images where good, this is in a different class. Sod on a hospital wall, I want it on mine.
A dreamy and beautiful image. Love how you've done this one especially.
it leaves me speechless.. whatever thoughts try to emerge are crushed by this overwhelming sense of beauty.. the vast canvass of nature and I feel I have seen too little of it.. the idea that nature can meet me and seep inside my soul in such a beautifully mysterious way.. why, a lake has been lifted up to the heights of clouds and on the way it has contracted the lumnious color of the sky.. and such divine energy even the worthless plants have contracted and they start to glow.. yet a feeling that the peace and harmony of it should not be disturbed by the oars of an aggressive soul.. a little magical fragment of this vast earth.. perhaps confined too in its assence but yet complete and free..
must be very close to heaven..
well, that was lot of talking after being speechless..
beautiful, sublime and somewhat liberating.. and as Peter says, it is one for the hospital wall..
You speechless, Pranav? .....Impossible!!!
Alan, this is truly wonderful. It has the feel and palette of a Turner painting. Stunning.
Magical, and all about the light. The clear, clean glow.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heartís core.
Lovely light and glow
'Far from the madding crowd'
The reeds form an arrow - pointing the way. I want to follow it Ö
This is very beautiful and has it's own voice (though Peekay's words are always wonderful, and charged with emotion too, even when speechless )
Simply put its divine. I've seen a lot of "art" over the past two weekends and this is as classically beautiful as any. Sublime, restful and totally lovely. Have a GEA
Beautiful Alan. The colours, tone, mood, all gorgeous.
I'm not sure how much i can add to what has already been said; just love it!
Has a silvered scraper-board effect. Excellent use of the vagaries of light diffraction, fringing and abberation.
This is really lovely Alan. the soft pastel colours and light bring to mind Renoirs Giverny paintings.
This is pure magical beauty...everything goes together - the colours, the light, the lines vertical and horizontal in perfect harmony...
I am in awe You can imagine the "lady of the lake" stretching out her hand to you
I have been looking at this picture for a number of minutes and yes it is a peaceful and beautiful scene, but I don't mean to be devil's advocate here but the picture has been over sharpened to the extent that the green, blue and red pixels are showing quite evidently particularly from half way to the top of the picture. If you had toned the sharpening down then this picture would be improved quite markedly. As said a lovely idea.

Hasn't actually been sharpened at all. The effect you are describing was achieved by other means and was intentional.
A beautiful image, Alan - it is so peaceful!
I particularly like the contrast between the vertical and horizontal lines - the whole pictures works really well.
A real beaut Alan , love it
A most remarkable image here, Alan. Beautiful, serene and dream like, amazing processing.
Luminous, beautiful and excellent!
a real beauty
beautiful light, soft pastel hues & visual presentation
An image most definitely worth a space on a wall. Composition colour and atmosphere in bucket loads.
It seems the lake is reflected in the sky, quite an achievement Alan.
