I think I would have cropped out the top also....gone for pure abstraction......but that is me, not you.

Clever; took me a little while to work out the subject matter, just like a good abstract should. Smile

The abstraction and that deep blue water. It bars you from entering but also invites you in.

An abstraction to go in my favs

Quite extraordinary. This changes from three different planes to a flat abstract pattern and back again as I view it.

I like the blue at the top Alan, it balances the image out with the darker shade at the bottom. This is a superb image, there are so many journey's to be taken in it. Well done!

Fine natural abstract - makes you think, what's what......
Like inclusion of dark blue of water at the top.

mind boggling and i couldnt finally work it out.. havent seen things like this before.. it traps mind in more than one way,
1. what is the margin between the thorny reeds and the surface of snow.. at first i thought it was a layering but then you dont use layers.. (finally it may be the shadows..)
2. seeing the reeds the white background appears like a vertical wall, which the composition may also suggest..
3. then what the heck is the blue? the sky? what is the margin between the edge of this wall to that blue.. absolutely nothing as it is water.. miles and miles if it is sky..

i could never had made it to this much if i hadnt read in the comments that it is water..
there's some slushy snow but as i havent seen much of it in my life, i couldnt guess it.. this is a puzzle at so many levels (at least to me) that it has to go as one of the most clever abstracts.. of course no cropping can be done.. in fact it is too good.. a work of genius because what it is more than one flat surface made of snow and water.. Shortlisted..
I hope i havent read so much this time.. this is one image that makes seeing images worthwhile..

The layers of frost are nice and I like that slash of dark blue water. The thorny branches make the image.

Prefer 'fractured' Smile... a 3D image viewed as a 2D abstract.
