Beautifully composed, those puffy clouds we like so much are puffy!!
Love that sky.
That's a WOW! Alan....love it.
Excellent, a lovely well-balanced and composed shot.
Beautifully balanced image Alan , the kneeling figure just makes it for me (dunno why she's just right) and that stack of clouds is sublime !!!. Bet the exposure was pretty tricky too and you have carried it off. Also the smooth processing is lovely.
High contrast, BIG sky, nice white clouds overhead but rain approaching from the south - was the lass praying for rain, I wonder? Fine b&w.
Very classy image in all respects, Alan. Excellent sky, composition and processing.
Charlotte, Rod, for the much appreciated UAs.
Bill- the whole scene looked slightly strange to me.
Great use of the `Darks'...think it could also work without the very top cloud
Quote: ...think it could also work without the very top cloud
I take your point, but one reason I personally prefer it as it is, is because I'm not crazy about the shape of the 2nd cloud down!! ...so that top cloud kind of takes some of the heat off it, makes it slightly less noticeable. I hope....!!!
Thanks for that
Well done. And the picture and background do compliment each other.
We are tiny creatures, aren't we.
Well composed capture. Love it
A real gem Alan, the clouds are terrific and full of mood... I too like the girl kneeling in the picture she adds so much to the image and like Rod I couldn't tell you why... Have another UA that makes it three! Oh v2 of my image is now loaded properly
Thanks Mark. 3 UAs......!!!
Excellent mono image Alan
One could argue whether or not this is a great composition, however I feel that one would being going delirious if one did not think so.
Thanks Nathan...... like the way you put that
Can't help relating this to the Nevil Shute book of the same name. The starkness of your conversion gives a desolate barrenness to the land and despondency of the girl on her knees. This is not a happy image and has so much drama in it. Fine work, Alan.
(for those that have not read it, the book is post apocalyptic without a happy ending)
Dave you are 100% spot on. Enjoy your prize, mate. Your comments very much appreciated.
Didn't they make a film of that, years ago, black & white?
Neil Young album Iam a phillistine
"...went to the radio interview,
but I ended up alone at the microphone...
....cos the world is turnin',
hope it don't turn away....."
Fits pretty well if you ask me
Many thanks to Nigel for his UA!!
Excellent composition and wonderful clouds Alan; striking image!
A slightly surreal feel to this photo, as though something BIG is about to happen. you have given this shot lovely treatment and so well presented. love the punchy clouds.once again you have treated us to a real work of art Alan!!
