Many thanks to everyone who C&C'd on my upload of an egret, most especially to wiliamsloane for his much appreciated user award.
Today a Grebe who was up late fishing on the serpentine just as it was getting dark.

that is a great looking pic Alex love the fact it was taken in the dark it as worked well
Still managed to nail the iconic Grebe eye
They didn't have to break the ice this year did they?

Great image Alex, totally different from our normal ornithological captures.
Love it Alex, the low light has made lovely reflections....great composition
Stunning capture, Alex.
very classy well done.
Night fishing at its best Alex. Superb. Peter.
Great image Alex, the darkness works really well,
A fabulous image - wonderful lighting, Alex.
Just gets better and better, this is very different, and quite stunning. Made me catch my breath when I saw it. You are very talented, Alex.
Just one thing though. Many of your images would gain a lot, and look even more stunning, if you gave more thought to presentation.
If you were able to add a very fine ( 2 or 3 pixels only ) white border and then use either a dark(ish) grey or black background from the choices you are given when you are preparing to upload, your images would look even better. Presentation is important, it completes the image.
But even though you've just gone and shoved this up on the default downright bloody awful pale blue, it still gets my Award for the day.
Nice image Alex, I like it a lot!!
Great shot Alex
Great shot Alex, very nicely done .
Amazing shot of a grebe!
Stunning Alex, I love what you have done with this... Superb !!!
It's those reflections, in the inky-black water that grabbed my attention, Alex.
As Nathan says, 'totally different from the norm...'.
You certainly increased the ISO to get it, with un-noticable noise, too..!!
A cracking find and capture, Alex. Carol
Your birds picture are very special, ( original POV, special focusing and lighting)
A great image, one of the best!
Great shot Alex. I love the light and dark element of the image;looks very dramatic.
Unusual style for a bird capture, but very effective and works for me, Alex.
