The Red Shoes by whipspeed

The Red Shoes

Thanks all & no I don't think she will need them again. I wanted to use some pointe shoes, but used these as they were a friends from her childhood and I was taking some images for her. I have not sourced some old pointe shoes as well, so will be doing another version.

Prayer for the Fallen

Thanks both. I wanted the wings to be semi transparent, but the pew is a bit of a line, so can fade that.

Onwards & Upwards by whipspeed

Onwards & Upwards

Thanks Isabel, it's a great building to visit and they appeared to have no problems with cameras either. The only time a security guard looked worried was when I was hanging my camera over the edge of the 9th floor, but hubby said he saw the strap, smiled & walked on.

Tranquil Space

Thank you both, it is a very small place, but feels open if you know what I mean, it has an airy feel to it. There is a bell tower & font behind where I was shooting, but there were the ubiquitous plastic chairs stacked up that they use for events, but they have left the main body of the church as it should be.
This is another Churches conservation trust building & they do a great job looking after these lovely old buildings.

Thanks all. This started out as me shooting a green & black vase with sunflowers, which didn't work & ended up with this.

Keith, that vase was a pain, I had bits of blanket & sheet all round the conservatory yesterday.

Vertigo

Thanks all, long exposure wasn't an option with this as holding the camera at arms length over the edge of the roof, trying not to look down as I don't like heights Smile

Her guardian........ by glenalva

Her guardian........

Again, I thought a real face had been very well superimposed on the statue, so makes the carving really quite unnerving. Well captured and processed.

Just happened to spot them chatting at History Live at Kelmarsh Hall. Caught my eye as they just seemed to stand out.

Tranquil Spaces V by whipspeed

Tranquil Spaces V

I did think of that, but wanted to leave it wonky as it is how this building is, rather than it being camera distortion. I don't think there is a straight line in there. Lucky to see it as well, as not usually open to the public, but the lady I was visiting is part of the group that is helping to preserve it.

Thanks Chrissie, that's what I was aiming for, trying to recreate the peace that this building seems to give out.

Tranquil Spaces II by whipspeed

Tranquil Spaces II

Thank you for your thoughts on the image. This image has indeed been cropped. The left hand side of the original is just goes to the corner & back into and empty side wall, missing the window that you see in yesterdays image, (which is uncropped, but taken from slightly further back than this image) and the right hand side is just a plain wall. So all that has been removed for this crop is empty wall space.

Thank you both. This church for me is perfect in its simplicity. This is what I've tried to capture.
