Overhead shot of an unknown flower (daisy-like) at the floriade Flower Festival in the Netherlands. Most of the petals had dropped off but the shape did look good from this angle.
f7.1 but quite close so the background was well out of focus - Iso400, 1/200s, handheld, 85mm.
Many thanks for all your comments on the Jerusalem Church and to Nathan for his UA.

Good detail in the seed head........
See you're getting that plant thing!!! Great title, probably refers to all of us of a more mature disposition. Well spotted and well done for not falling on it....
Superb shot, fabulous detail and the dof is spot on.

Composed and light perfect Dave.

Trev.
Hey Ya getting better with the flowers magic.
Well done. WesternRed.
For all that it deifes the law of odds, it needs the second smaller flower head for balance (flower power?). It works well and the framing is good although a bit more space around the smaller head would help the composition. Main bloom is sharp yet you have a nice swirling defocussed background. With a more abstract image like this I'd be tempted to try something funky with the colours!

A cracker of a shot Dave, its one of many flowers that is still pleasing to look at even when the petals have gone, no idea what it is though.

What a beaut! Love how you've composed this too. Actually, I took some shots of daisy type things at the Singapore Garden Festival and one had almost all petals off but there were these nice green things underneath which looked like petals! Bizarre.
Andrew
A fine composition and capture, Dave, despite it being petal-less! ![]()

Natural patterns by mother nature - a splendid capture ... Carol
In response to your comments, ho hum - the old saying is so true, act in haste repent at leisure - put the wrong photo up, eyes must still have been half open - nothing I can do now, but thanks for the observations, only wish you had been beside me this morning ![]()
Echinacea was the word you were looking for, but with all this competition going on, I think I will start charging for ID's...I can then retire in 2 months and spend more time on here.....
Or with godd ones like this becoming more frequent, just put my feet up and watch everyone else get on with it ! ![]()
