Sun is shinin' in the sky,
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin'
Everybody's in a play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day.
After a brief sojourn into the dark side that is B&W, back to some 'blue sky' imagery. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions, I will certainly be reflecting on them before my next mono.
This image is probably as close as I'll get to bird photography - it didn't move and gave me lots of time to sort out the best composition and wait for elements to move into position
. It was taken at the mouth of the River Torrens which flows through Adelaide, South Australia. The River looks quite impressive in Adelaide but that's because they dammed it to make it look like a major river, and to provide for recreational activities (padddle boats actually!!).
Thanks to all for your support, and thanks to ELO for the lyrics.

Brilliant image made by the composition! Also I really like the detailed description - it helps me appreciate the image so much more. Thanks!
Nice Pelican sitting up there in the Aussie blue sky. Good capture. Well done. WesternRed.
The composition is superb Dave and excellent exposure and tones.
Regards
Trev.
Agree all of the above, Dave. This is superb - and I do love that little boat: it provides a wonderful element of balance and perspective.
Thanks for the ELO tip. I was racking my brains trying to figure out what was familiar about the words, when I read further .......
Regards.

Love the comp on this one Dave, did you plant that bird... It look unreal.. Fab placement of poles and boat.. One of your best![]()
Superb image Dave. That yacht is so well positioned and integral to the shot's success.
Alun
That pelican has obviously not flapped its wings in anger for a long time, Dave. Is it tied down to prevent being blown away or being stolen?
Magnificent, vibrant image that you can spot a mile off in the thumbnail gallery. Excellent patience (or lucky timing) to get the sailboat positioned perfectly. Not a shot you'd get off the Mersey docks, for sure!
Malc
Well, I love ELO, and this image too
Those pelicans can be so patient, glad it sat there for you long enough for you to also frame that sailboat out there.
Anne
Simple but really effective composition. Beautiful colours and great subject. You should try more bird images. Regards Russell![]()
